Not as planned

So things are not going exactly as planned. In regards to the job, that is.  You remember that potential job offer that we've been waiting for?  Well...it looks like it's fallen through the cracks.  I cannot begin to tell you how heavy my heart has been.  We were so looking forward to receiving good news from this potential employer but all we got was "wait".  Then that "wait" turned into I'm not sure if it's going to happen.  BOY, this is not the news we were expecting! Especially when we turned down another job offer to wait for this one!  Can you feel the heaviness in my heart? With just nine weeks left until we leave...what are we going to do now?!

Calmly, my beloved replies, "I'll tell you what we're going to do.  We're going to trust in God.  That's what we're going to do! God knows our needs, He'll provide!"

How can I be so stupid in thinking that the plans we make are better than God's plans for us?  I've forgotten what it says in Scripture,

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." (Isaiah 55:8-9)

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding;  In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." (Proverbs 3:5-6)

For me to live in regret is not putting my trust in God.  No matter what I think, God has allowed all of this to happen.  He orchestrated all of this so He knows exactly what was and is going to come forth from this situation.

A sister in the Lord recently corrected me in the meaning of Jehovah Jireh.  I had originally thought that Jehovah Jireh meant "The Lord provides".  But the literal translation is "The Lords who sees".  So because of God's compassion towards us, He sees our needs and He provides for the necessities of His children.  He is the "One who knows my need because He sees.  The One who is able to meet my need in just the right time as He did for Abraham, and the One who can meet it fully!  For Abraham, it was the ram caught in the thicket that was offered in Isaac's place." (from Bible.org)  For us, it's a job for my beloved that will not only meet the needs of our family but also help to support Island Grace Church financially.

Lord, please forgive me for ever thinking that I know better than you.  Thank you for humbling me and reminding me that You are the one in control of our lives.  That you are the one that directs our path on this journey.  As you see the needs of our family would you provide?  By Your grace, i will trust in You.  In Jesus' name, Amen.

Sixpence None the Richer - Trust

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
Lean not on your own understanding
In all of your ways acknowledge Him
And He will make your path straight
Don't worry about tomorrow
He's got it under control
Just trust in the Lord with all of your heart
And He will carry you through

Lord, sometimes it gets so tough
To keep my eyes on You
When things are going rough
Then I turn my eyes up to the sky
And I hear Your voice it says to me

Trust in the Lord
with all your heart
You will have much trouble in this world
I have overcome.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
Lean not on your own understanding
In all of your ways acknowledge Him
And He will make your path straight
Don't worry about tomorrow
He's got it under control
Just trust in the Lord with all of your heart
And He will carry you through
And He will carry you through
